Primary Sex Offender Treatment

Primary Sex Offender Treatment is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

This type of therapy looks at how you think about things going on in your life.  It considers your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes (cognitive process) and how this impacts on the way you behave.  Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) looks at how you can change any negative patterns of thinking or behaviour that may be causing you difficulties.  Talking and changing behaviour can help you change how you think and what you do. This can make you feel better about life.

Primary Sex Offender Treatment gives opportunity to:

  • Develop an insight and awareness of your offending

  • Find and explore the triggers to your offending

  • Challenge attitudes, beliefs and distorted thinking

  • Develop the motivation to not offend

  • Understand the affects on victims

  • Recognise your risk factors

  • Develop coping strategies to manage risk

  • Build support networks
