The New Me Workshop is designed for Men who have completed Sex Offender Treatment Programmes in prison or in the community. The workshop is a facility that allows men to attend to revisit and strengthen skills that they have developed through their Sex Offender Treatment Programmes. It is excellent for maintaining treatment gains.
The aims of the workshop are:-
Review learning from the treatment that has already been completed.
Gain help, advice and support with your progress towards an offence free life
Practise skills that will help you manage your risk factors.
Seek help with self monitoring
The group will consist of 4-5 men at a time and will last approximately 2 hours. Each person will get the opportunity to bring to the session what they would like to work on.
The sessions are facilitated by experienced SOTP trained facilitators who are specifically trained in the programmes which the men in attendance have completed.
The Aims of the session are for men to feel comfortable in practising skills in a safe environment.
This service is available for men who have attended either Community or Prison programmes and can be delivered in both locations.
Lead Therapist for the New Me Workshop
Melanie is Primary Therapist for the Extended Sex Offender Treatment programme (SOTP) and she is also trained to deliver the Core SOTP, the Rolling SOTP and the Better Lives Booster Programme. She is trained in the following assessments RM2000 and Spousal Assault Risk Assessment, Welcher Abbreviated Scales of Intelligence Assessments and Healthy Sex Programme Assessments. Melanie is a National Trainer for Operational Services Integration Group and has delivered to date in excess of 800 hours of Sex Offender Treatment.
Melanie has worked at HMP Whatton for 6 years, and has 9 years experience working with prisoners as a Prison Law Legal Advocate, specialising in Life Sentenced Prisoners.
